CareCompagniet offers family treatment in accordance with the Act on Social Services, chapter 11, §52, para. 3, no. 3.
The purpose of family treatment is to enhance the parents’ competencies as well as strengthen the parent-child relationship. The primary goal of family treatment as a preventive measure is to prevent placement or allow a return after placement.
In family treatment, the focus is on the pedagogical and therapeutic treatment on the whole family where the child’s development and well-being is important. The goal is to create profound changes in the parents by altering or processing the parent’s patterns of behaviour.
Throughout the family treatment, the work at hand is focused on further developing parenting skills and thereby creating better well-being and developing in the child and in the family in general. Family treatment takes place in the home of the family, in their usual setting and consists of both conversations and concrete advice, tools, and exercises.
The family treatment is adjusted to the actual needs and challenges and work is carried out based upon the given action plan that has been prepared by the family’s social worker.
